I have managed remote sales teams in the past and it is difficult to say the least.  If you want your salespeople to be spread around geographically so that they can be close to your customers you probably have salespeople working out of their homes.  So how do you make sure that the salespeople are being productive?  How do you have these salespeople share in their successes with the other team members?  Why conference calls of course!
